Thanks Sfields for your post. If only to add weight to your comment but without clarifying the species, we're in Gressenhall Road (just off Grid) my partner witnessed an air attack yesterday and even saw them both land on the pavement. The bird of prey held it down with it's talons before flying off with it, whilst it was alive and obviously in distress, I only heard the commotion. She couldn't identify it, despite looking through a decent spotters guide and using the internet of course. The two markers she did point out were, yellow around the eye, rather than the eyeball (Falcon?) and stripes on the chest (Sparrowhawk?). I don't think whatever it was it had to have escaped captivity, on researching, the Sparrowhawk certainly looks quite common, although I've never identified one and Peregrine Falcons are getting more sightings. Hopefully someone with better spotting skills or local bird knowledge can put us straight!
